I've had bad experiences with Salvia, but most people i know haven't.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. Meh.

I'm glad someone finally didn't give into the hype and immediately demonize salvia. Thank you.

I got some 20x the other day. I was listening to depeche mode while on it and I could literally feel the music. NO JOKE. The notes felt like water. It was amazing! Synesthesia baby. Synesthesia!

I'd rather buy my salvia from reputable people operating within the law than a drug dealer.

@buysalvia - That's why I wrote it- too much misinformation floating around about the stuff, both for and against it.

Salvia is good but pretty expensive compared to the effect. Marijuana is a much better monetary choice. But if you need to be sober quickly, salvia is for you. Hopefully it won't be banned too soon.

I'm really happy to see this article being referenced years after publishing and my employment at the Daily. Salvia's still a big topic in both the scientific community and the public at large(research is turning up strange new profiles of the drug regularly), so we can expect it to be both praised and vilified in the very near future. If pharmacology and drug legalization/prohibition interests indeed do delve into it with the same voracity as they do drugs like marijuana and Prozac, an interesting outcome can be expected.

@Buy Salvia: There are still some broke, unsuccessful, sometimes-too-honest journalists out there refraining from the blatant exploitation of every controversial bit of news junk they can find. People make better decisions with better information, and it is my sincerest hope that some kind of progress can be made against the "demonization" of psychoactive drugs and instead for the education and understanding of how these intricate, unique compounds function.

hey guys, check out this site I just found about Salvia: www.salviasociety.org I heard about it on Fox News last night. The guy who owns it was talking how he's trying to stop legislation in different states from banning the herb. I hope he succeeds, meanwhile they just banned it in my State (Minnesota)

Hah, any drug can be "abused". The difference between Salvia "abuse" and say Psilocybin "abuse", is Salvia lets you know you are abusing it, and will make you pay for it... haha, not in a necessarily harmful way (there are no physical side effects beyond the ten or so minutes of dissociation at the plateau) but in a sort of "you've been a bad person, get your shit together" way.

I've hit that plateau once five or six years ago, and the afterglow in and of itself (Salvinorin leaves the body very quickly, we're talking minutes/hours) was the most enjoyable state I have experienced.

Go to Erowid.org and look up the studies made on the use of the drug in depressives. The rate of depression for all users dropped around 80 percent (guestimate). Here's one case study: http://www.erowid.org/references/refs_view.php?ID=1316

Abstract: A case report of a 26 year old woman with treatment-resistant chronic depression who reports long lasting alleviation of symptoms with acute and chronic administration of Salvia divinorum.

    Excerpt:

A case report of a 26 year old woman with treatment-resistant chronic depression who reports long lasting alleviation of symptoms with acute and chronic administration of Salvia divinorum.

Ms. G volunteered that she has also benefited from occasional intoxicating oral doses of salvia divinorum, consisting of from 8–16 leaves of the herb (approximately 2 to 4 grams), claiming that this herb had engendered a kind of "psychospiritual" awakening, characterized by the discovery of the depth of her sense of self, greater self-confidence, increased feelings of intuitive wisdom and "connectedness to nature."

If you're thinking of a cheap alternative to taking valium or prozac for weeks on end, it's worth looking into Salvia Divinorum.

Just make sure to be ready for. It's not your Grandma's Acid.
