    Please don't say this story is "cool". The story of the muder of a friend of mine is in no way "cool."

    Thanks for writing this, Courtney. I hope people who have friends who are in relationships that could potentially turn violent say something before it turns worse. Lorena's death serves as a reminder that we cannot discount some people we know as potentially violent. :(

    I was shot in the head & almost died Oct 2007 from Domestic Violence. These stories need to be told. More education is needed from survivors to help prevent others from suffering the same fate.

    Great story, I read about this in a past issue. My prayers go out to her family, I hope her ex is found guily and that he get's life with no parole. I hope his sentence isn't like the chris brown case, where he only had to go for counseling, do community service etc. I hope the judge or jury give him a sentence that will make him think twice before he act's. Great story again, could you please write a follow up? thanks,
