  • Student files suit against Lambda Chi Alpha

    Abstract:
Bradley Swearingen filed a lawsuit against Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity Jan. 22 for more than $300,000 for injuries he received during a pledge meeting, according to the student's attorney.

Cass Keramidas, Swearingen's attorney at law, said in February 2006 Swearingen was sliding on the floor of Lambda Chi's fraternity house through a set of double doors when he hit his head and injured his neck....

Did I read that right? Swearingen is suing because there was lack of supervision during the meeting?!? Is Swearingen a toddler or in college?? If he is old enough to be in a fraternity then he should know sliding on a floor between doors could have the potential to hurt someone. I know he needs his medical bills paid but suing someone for your own stupidity is crazy!

Sounds like someone doing something incredibly stupid then turning around and blaming everyone else except himself.

Yet another example of the blame everyone else mentality that now cripples our society. Grow up and be a man. You chose to do something stupid, now deal with it. If you got in your car and slammed it into your tree, are you going to sue the state for not supervising you? Ridiculous and a waste of the tax-payers money.

Any update on this? I am guessing this got thrown out...I would love to hear him explain how this is Lambda Chi Alpha's fault. He was not forced to slide across the floor into doors. Thats like blaming Loiusville Slugger for picking up a bat and hitting yourself with it.

They hell you frat boys doing? Ridiculous! And to think frat boys make fun of hippies around campus. At least hippies don't slide around on floors, get hurt and blame others. Sliding on floors? Come on.
