This is ridiculous, opening up another law school in Texas where only the top 20% of law graduates from each class have any shot at getting a decent job. Affordable or not, there is a severe supply and demand issue in the current legal job market. Borrowing any amount of money without any job opportunities and becoming overqualified for any non-attorney job is financial and career suicide. Texas should shut this plan down, what a waste of taxpayer money and america's youth. Getting a law degree is a complete joke in this country, but the politicians don't probably know this because they never leave the ivory palace to see what's going on in the real world.

A "new" UNT Law School? Well, what happened to the old one?

    Is this a joke?

There is no need for taxpayers to subsidize more lawyers that cannot get a job. Ask any Texas Wesleyan graduate or even an SMU graduate how difficult it is to find a legal job. Of course there are many lawyers that are successful. But there are also many more that make less than $30k per year and cannot afford to pay back their loans. UNT's administrators are living in a dream world by creating another lowly ranked law school and asking Texas taxpayers to foot the bill. There are so many other careers that the administrators can focus on to benefit Texas. However, this is their simple minded logic: UNT has a medical school. In order to be considered a legitimate university system in Texas, UNT needs a law school as well. So let's create a law school whether the area is really in need of it or not. The logic is similar to TAMU's endeavor to take over South Texas College of Law in Houston about a decade ago.

I am very excited about this! Many that wish to attend Law School do not get a fair chance at going to SMU due to costs and acceptance rates. This will allow many the opportunity to go to Law School without the massive debt. This will also give many minorities the chance to attend Law School as well.

    I plan to go :)

I am very happy with this new Law School because it will be a great opportunity for minorities like me. I think that we need more lawyers if we want more justice.
