  • Proposed return of baseball program may start by 2010

    Abstract:
For more than two decades baseball fans at UNT have had to travel to Arlington to enjoy a live game. For 21 years, UNT has not had a collegiate baseball program, since it was cut, along with men's soccer, in 1987.

But local fans of America's pastime may not have to wait much longer....

why would north texas attempt to add another underfunded sport that the students don't want and won't pay for?

Honestly I couldn't care less about any sports at NT or anywhere else, but I criticize no one for wanting to enhance athletics. And no I don't want to pay more our of student fees for baseball, but I'll live.

    Dude, really?

Baseball should have never been dropped. But it will have near immediate success and bring even more national recognition to this great university. The SBC is a good baseball conference and there is a tremendously deep talent pool. You already have talented potential recruits that would love to play here.

On what research do you base your statement that noone wants baseball? Id love to see the results of that poll. Im going to go ahead and call your bluff since people were wanting it back when I was a student.

So, how many season tickets can we put you down for?

I believe baseball is a sport that many UNT students would love to see. Baseball would make UNT an attractive option to a larger population of student athletes, and would help the case for UNT to move to a better and well-funded Div I conference such as Conference USA or Mountain West.
