  • Windfarm gives Texans power

    Abstract:
It's almost a normal ranch, much like the thousands of others across the state. Herds of black cattle graze lazily in fields of thick grass. Rusted storage tanks sit patiently near gravel roads and barbed-wire fences. Clear ponds reflect the reds and yellows of the morning sun....

Wind power is certainly a great source of alternative energy, and many of these wind farms actually give electricity back to the power companies. Hopefully more cities will take notice and follow in Denton's footsteps.

I went to this wind farm on my way out of the Denton area for a few days of R&R a few weeks ago. Impressed to say the least. I never figured that area would be consistently windy enough but sure enough the rise on the platuea out of the Red River Valley is just enough to keep the blades spinning. I hope to see more of these in my travels. I saw more farms through Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska on my way to the Black Hills of South Dakota.
