    Did he really say "GGW"?
Other than Mr. Powers' statement, I'm curious to know what the people who were going in the Bar thought of the event.
    And where are the pictures?
One last thing: I don't think GGW is soft porn. It's a lot more than that, especially the "Sorority Sweethearts" and the "Ultimate Spring break."

Gabe--The photo is in the paper--not sure why it's not on the Web.

Maybe the Web master should get off his ass and post 'em. Y'know, for those of us not lucky enough to have the paper delivered to us.
And my name is not Gabe, it's Mobe. I do not know who this "Gabe" person is.

I'm glad to know that there are people who are willing to stand up to this trash. The girls participating in these videos may well regret it once they have children and families of their own.

unresearched? that makes no sense, considering most MAV and FMLA members are quite well-read on the subject. ahh, such is the way of futile rhetoric.

i find it amusing that so many people were up in arms about this promotion we had. ggw wild has appeared in denton several times at several clubs over the last few years and i have never seen this much attention.

we make sure that all laws are followed inside the club and there were 6 police officers here minimum at all times to make sure as well. anything "wild" that goes on is done on the bus by consenting adults who sign all kinds of waivers and have to copy their license, etc....i saw it first hand and they do quite a bit to make sure these women are of legal age.

one protester told me if they were drunk then did i feel bad. well, no. if they got drunk at my place they had to be 21 and if a 21 year old women wants to do something she may or may not regret later it is her decision and not mine. i am not here to be my customers parents.

we are here to throw parties and show people a good time and i think people had a good time that night in our club. i have no idea what happened on that bus and honestly don't care...that bus does not belong to me.

the protesters were not very well versed or maybe it was the cold that kept them from making good points but i was not impressed by their arguments and do not agree they should have protested the club but maybe protest the bus.

i will say that i am not totally ok with ggw and do think that some girls do some stupid things and probably regret it later but that is not for me or any of these protesters to decide. i don't think it's smart to protest in 29 degree weather but it was done and the protesters might regret it later when they have the flu.

i think people should be allowed to do what they are allowed to do legally and not be trampled on for what they do or believe. i applaud anyone for standing up for something they think is wrong but i think there are better ways of handling it than what i believe to be a silly protest that influenced no one.

Big deal. Prostitutes can donate 10% of their proceeds from Valentine's weekend to Habitat for Humanity, and say they're banging corporate CEOs and lonely bachelors to help shelter the homeless. Doesn't make prostitution right, does it?

We're not fooled by the thin veneer of philanthropy covering an ultra-radical feminist agenda. We know better!!!!

How can you compare prostitution to V.M.? Have you seen the play? A play centered on a women's experiences (including sexual and coming of age) has nothing to do with raunch culture or trading sex for money.
and f.y.i. this forum is for comments about the ggw protest article, not v-day.

How about not having the vagina monologues and raising money for charity in other ways? So, if the GGW event had donated money for some charity, then would that make the event okay?

How terribly ironic that a MAV/FMLA sponsored protest would include signs saying "Keep your clothes, keep your dignity."

Indeed Ironic; a group being portrayed as some moral compass without referencing all the issues where they are clearly so wrong. I guess even a broken watch is right twice a day.

    I agree with Leigh,..

most peole who have a problem with VM have not seen it.

to Andi... have you seen Vm?

    and to Michele Connole..

there is a big difference between taking a stand against ideal types (love your body) and what happens with GGW. GGW promotes rape objectification...

    you need to educate yourself

I was at this event - I go to UNT and live 2 minutes from the bar - and it was not nearly what you would expect from GGW. Yes they had the bus out front - I got pictures with it and my friends and even had drinks with Joe Francis himself who kept calling me Keith even though I told him my name is Matthew. The people in the bar just like to have a good time, I go there often, and GGW just helped get the party started a little bit faster than ususal. Out of the 4 hours I was there, I only saw maybe 5 or 6 girls with their shirts lifted, and 4 girls were taken out to the bus completely by their own free will, in pairs, and spent 20 minutes or so each there. In all I think Joe Francis conducts his shady business quite well and as respectable as possible.
