I remember this guy. He was always a nice guy when I had labs in the Planetarium. He helped out quite a bit. He made astronomy not quite so boring. That means alot.

Just wanted to post the following information: Services for Dan will be on Wednesday, July 23d at 3PM at Lucas Funeral Home, Grapevine, TX (the northwest side of the Grapevine Baylor Medical Center complex). The family would be honored to meet all of Dan's colleagues, students and friends. You are all welcome to join with the family to bid Dan forward on his next journey.

I am still in shock. I have thought about Daniel ever since I got the phone call from Carol last week. Daniel made a big impression on me. Above all else, he was sweet and kind and nice to everyone.
I remember one Christmas he and I strung up "fairy" lights all over the Physics dept. I know he had better things to do, but he wouldn't leave until he knew the job was done. We laughed and chatted the entire afternoon. This was one of the many times Daniel was just there and ended up helping me with whatever project I was working on. He made life light. I really enjoyed his company. What an incredible loss. My heart just breaks for his family. Daniel will be forever in my thoughts and in my prayers. I feel blessed for knowing him and his gentle manner. I will miss him.

I can't believe this is happening. I never knew Daniel personally but I took two different astronomy classes and both times he was my T.A. for the planetarium labs. I feel as if he is one of the main reasons I was able to pass my astronomy courses. He was so nice and willing to help anyone. His family and friends are in my prayers.

All the above comments speak volumes of the type of person he was. I too had him as a TA in the Planetarium labs, just a few weeks ago actually. He was always very helpful, patient, and humorous. He made an impression on me in those 5 weeks, what a truly nice guy he was. Though I didn't know him personally, it still sad whenever we lose a person like Daniel. Wouldn't it be nice if there were more people like him. I can only imagine how hard this is for those who knew him personally. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, and his colleagues.

I took both Astronomy classes. Daniel was a good guy. I never knew he had serious health problems. Quite a loss for our fine University.

This is sad news, I had him as an astronomy instructor and he was so helpful, always smiling and happy to be there. One of the nicest TAs I ever met.

This is so sad--he was one of my astronomy TAs too. I send my deepest sympathies to his family--I am so sorry.

Thank you UNT, for your kind thoughts and prayers at this difficult time for all of us. Dan will be missed by many; he touched our lives, our hearts and our souls. A special thank you to UNT who went far beyond to rent an entire bus to bring Dan's friends, students and colleagues to Grapevine to attend the services. I cannot tell you what that felt like to see so many people disembark the bus to bid Dan farewell on his last journey. The family apologizes for the long wait in the heat as we tried to make room inside, as well as the lack of seating for all. Again, thank you all for your kindness. Aunt Bernie
