"The Ruins," an adaptation of Scott B. Smith's novel of the same name, opened April 5. Smith is the same author who wrote the novel and screen adaptation of "A Simple Plan." With that feather in his cap, it is easy to expect good things from "The Ruins." Unfortunately for moviegoers, this latest work fails to achieve the same quality of his prior work. (3) comments

NT alumni and filmmakers Gabriel Barboza and Jose Sauceda have taken their film "Green Eyed Monster" on tour around the country from New York to Los Angeles. The low-budget film was released February 2007 and is a supernatural thriller based on Hispanic folklore. (5) comments
Audiences will find a lot to like in "Smart People," which opens today, but its familiar storyline might make it forgettable in the long run.
