    NT offense sees improvement

This weekend marked one small step for NT football and one giant leap for the Mean Green offense. On Saturday, the Mean Green (0-6, 0-2) squared off against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (3-3, 2-0) in a 30-59 loss. However, it was the first time NT scored at least 30 points in a game since playing Navy in November. (0) comments

When he was playing football as a sophomore at Vernon High School, freshman safety Darien Williams was asked to move up to start for the varsity team. This year, Williams is facing a similar situation, but now he is a freshman starting safety for the Mean Green. (0) comments

The Midland Challenge this weekend was a nest of heated competition for the NT women's team, causing the Mean Green to fall short in close matches and individually. In the overall tournament, NT had a record of 5-11 in singles play - five of the losses were third-set tiebreakers - and a 2-4 record in doubles play. (0) comments

In the first of two games this weekend, the NT soccer team tied the University of South Alabama in double-overtime on Friday. Freshman forward Kelsey Perlman lead the Mean Green with two goals in the double-overtime tie game against the Jaguars. South Alabama jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 12th minute when Sam Slover scored off of a corner kick, and Brandi Smith followed suit in the 18th minute to extend South Alabama's lead to 2-0. In NT's second overtime game of the weekend, junior midfielder Kelli Lunsford scored two goals, including the game winner to beat the Troy University Trojans 2-1 Sunday. Lunsford's first goal came 25 minutes into the first half, when a foul inside the Trojan's penalty box set up a penalty kick. (0) comments

In the first of two games in Florida this weekend, the Mean Green volleyball team lost after four sets against the Florida Atlantic University Owls on Friday. After capturing the first set and leading in kills, the Mean Green failed to maintain momentum and lost the next three sets (26-24, 18-25, 16-25, 21-25). (0) comments

After a only single match victory Friday's loss to FAU, the Mean Green was swept in three games by the Florida International University Panthers on Sunday because of continued attack errors. Following the departure from NT of every player from last year's team that defeated FIU, the Mean Green fell (18-25, 17-25, 20-25) at the hands of the Panthers. (0) comments
