The North Texas Athletic Department will collect additional minimum donations from football season ticket holders this fall.

The Mean Green Club, which is in charge of fundraising for the athletic department, raises nearly $2 million annually for athletic scholarships across all sports at UNT. Hank Dickenson of the Mean Green Club said loyal season ticket holders are one of the main mechanisms for raising that money.

"Football is the engine that drives the train," he said.

Dickenson said the number of season ticket holders has increased in recent years.

Last season, only section E surrounding the 50-yard line required a $500 donation. Season ticket packages in section E are already sold out for the upcoming season, according to the UNT ticket office.

For the fall season, sections D and F on the west side of Fout's Field will require a minimum donation of $250. Season ticket holders who renewed their tickets before April 12 were not required to make the donation.

Megan Unruh of the ticket office said the grandfather clause only applies to sections D and F.

All three sections offer season tickets to the general public for $100, plus the donation.

There are six other sections in which season tickets are offered on the west side of the stadium. These sections do not have a minimum donation, but donations are accepted. Those who donate $125 or more gain membership in the Mean Green Club and are eligible for a variety of benefits.

General admission prices will remain the same as last season, and students will still get in for free with a valid student ID.
