A resident assistant at Mozart Hall Thursday found a dead student alone in his room, UNT spokesman Buddy Price said. An investigation is ongoing, Price said. Andrew Vahlenkamp, a history education senior who lives near Mozart, said he was driving near the dorm at 5:30 p.m. when he saw that it had been closed by police and helicopters were flying overhead. After 26 years, the "Aerie" yearbook will no longer be published. This is the second time a yearbook has been discontinued at UNT. According to an email from Mary Finley, the advisor to the "Aerie" and assistant director of the union administration, the publication stopped because of an increase in social networking, increased cost of production, declining sales, and her retirement from UNT. A bill proposed at Wednesday's Student Government Association meeting to allow SGA presidents to run for reelection was pushed back until the next meeting on August 6 because senators could not come to a consensus. At the finance and administration town hall meeting last Thursday, Glenn Houbold, UNT's associate director of facilities maintenance, announced the department's conservation efforts. Part two of a threefold minimum wage act will increase minimum wage 70 cents from $5.85 to $6.55. According to the Texas Minimum Wage Act, chapter 62 of Texas Labor Code, the minimum wage will increase a total of $2.10. The first increase was July 24, 2007, and the next increase will be on July 24, 2009, ending minimum wage at $7. (6) comments
