Roanoke celebrates 75th anniversary

The third annual Celebrate Roanoke Festival begins Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Oak Street in historic downtown Roanoke.
There will be four stages of entertainment that will include local favorites and notable musicians such as Baylie Brown, Todd Mankin Band, Gary Kyle and Tom McElvain.
Magicians, jugglers and clowns will be on hand to entertain the crowds.
Street vendors will be along Oak Street selling goods, food and drinks.
A karaoke contest will be open to those who dare to compete from 6 to 8 p.m.
A teddy bear clinic, motorcycle rodeo, children's play area, children's train, and a public safety exhibit will run throughout the day.
There will be staged gunfights and street dances throughout the day and a firework display that night.
This year will mark the town's 75th anniversary.
