Ten bikes have been reported stolen on campus so far this fall, a university official said. NT police chief Ed Reynolds said that students might be more at fault than they think. He said there have been numerous cases of students leaving their bikes unprotected and without locks, giving the thieves a clear opportunity to steal. (6) comments
The Student Government Association is working to repair a few technical problems with the online ballot concerning the athletics referendum, senator elections and NT Homecoming king and queen. Paul Hunter, a 10-year employee of the UNT Bookstore and alumnus, died Saturday at age 40. Bill Mills with the Tarrant County medical examiner said Hunter's cause of death is pending. Shawn Bourdo, assistant manager of the UNT Bookstore, said he worked with Hunter since 2003. (0) comments

The U.S. Department of Education has given NT $800,000 to fund the creation of a master's degree program in special education with an emphasis in autism. Distributed Education for Autism Personnel in Rural Texas, also known as Project DART, has been created using the grant to allot opportunities to educators in rural Texas who don't have access to an autism or special education program. A college panel headed by the dean of admissions at Harvard University is suggesting that universities ease their focus on standardized test scores. While some schools are reacting to the panel's findings by making the SAT or ACT optional in the admissions process, NT admissions are still based on high school rank and SAT and ACT scores.
