    The Texas Legislature and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board will decide whether to approve funding for the NT Dallas College of Law when the legislative session begins Jan. 13. In 2007, the original bill passed in the Senate but did not pass in the House because of a technicality. (5) comments

    Curriculum committee discusses credit issues

    Wednesday's core curriculum meeting raised questions of high school advanced placement credits and the importance of college-level grammar. A debate mounted concerning how to handle credits from advanced placement exams in high school. These credits are typically assigned to an equivalent course by the department in which the student chooses to apply. (0) comments

    Departments double classes offered in Dallas

    Journalism department leads in courses

    NT is nearly doubling the number of classes at the Universities Center of Dallas next semester, meaning more students will travel to downtown Dallas to take courses. In the spring semester, NT will offer 24 classes at the Universities Center of Dallas. This semester, NT offered 13 classes from five NT colleges, including the College of Public Affairs and Community Service, the College of Business Administration, the College of Visual Arts and Design, the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education.     Students will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion event for International Education Week at 3:30 p.m. today in General Academic Building Room 104. The panel's topic is "The United States' Image in the New Millennium: Challenges and Opportunities," and three NT professors and a student will speak about America's image in the global community.     The Student Publication Committee named a journalism senior with years of experience at the NT Daily, as well as professional papers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as editor-in-chief of the Daily for spring 2009. Matt Goodman began writing for the Daily as an intern in spring 2006 and moved quickly through the paperís ranks. (0) comments

    Man arrested for outstanding warrant

    Tuesday, Nov. 18 Forrest Rucker, 18, turned himself in to NT police because of his warrant for credit card abuse. Police took the NT student to the Denton County Jail. NT police found that an impound boot had been stolen from a vehicle on Welch Street. It is unknown who stole the boot. (0) comments

    The Student Government Association suspended its textbook study grant initiative and passed a resolution increasing cyclist safety awareness at its last meeting of the fall semester Wednesday evening. The Reserve Textbook Initiative Bill cited a lack of "well-defined procedure for granting textbooks" and proposed revising the bylaws concerning the program. (0) comments

    Horse trainer teaches method

    Speaker to explain clicker technique

    NT's student-led Organization for Reinforcement Contingencies with Animals will host a horse training lecture on Dec. 5. The organization and the department of behavior analysis have invited horse trainer Alexandra Kurland to speak on the clicker training method and how useful it is in teaching horses how to behave.
