ANNA, Texas (AP) - At least 14 students suffered minor injuries when a school bus went over a curb and hit a telephone pole Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Anna Police Chief Kenneth Jenks, in an e-mail to The Associated Press, said the children were reported in good to fair condition Wednesday night.

The bus was transporting between 40 and 50 students when it jumped a curb, crossed a daycare center parking lot and struck the pole, which fell across the top of the vehicle, according to police.

The front of the bus was damaged.

There were no other vehicles involved. The driver was being interviewed by police.

A statement from Medical Center of McKinney said the hospital had received nine patients, ranging in age from about 8-16. All had been discharged by late Wednesday evening.

"Right now, it's just cuts and bruises," Jenks said. "Those being transported to the hospital are just being taken there for observation."

Officials with the Anna Independent School District did not immediately return a call for comment.

Anna is a town of about 2,000, located 40 miles north of Dallas.
