Police arrested NT freshman wide receiver Forrest Rucker on Tuesday morning after he turned himself in for an outstanding warrant.

The warrant was for two charges of debit or credit card abuse. Police detained Rucker at 6:53 a.m. and released him at 9:19 a.m. after posting a $5,000 bond.

"I am aware of the situation with Forrest Rucker and still in the process of collecting all of the information," football head coach Todd Dodge said in a prepared statement. "We have expectations of all of our players, and we take these matters seriously. We treat these situations on a case-by-case basis, and all disciplinary action will be handled internally."

According to the Texas Penal Code, credit or debit card abuse is a felony. If Rucker is found guilty, he can be jailed from 180 days to two years and be forced to pay a fine of up to $10,000.

Rucker, who broke his collarbone just before the start of the season, has been sitting out as a redshirt.

"The young man is going to have to take responsibility for his actions," athletics director Rick Villarreal said. "Coach Dodge and I have not had a chance to put together all the information, but once we do that, we will be able to make further decisions."

    To Phff:

Let me get this straight. Rucker is facing up to two years in jail time, up to $10,000 fine, will probably have his scholarship revoked, and has had to face the embarrassment of having his name thrown in the papers, but you still want more punishment?? Whats left? Lethal injection??

Seriously you say you used to run track here at UNT, did you never make mistakes as a college student? Lets not kick the man while he is down. (Continued…)
