With the holidays around the corner, it's time to start breaking out the hot chocolate, winter coats and of course, the latest and greatest electronics.
When it comes to MP3 players and phones that do almost everything besides washing your clothes, the iPod and iPhone are a staple among college students. The iPod Touch, the latest to the iPod line-up, costs from $229 to $399, depending on the amount of gigabytes (GB) of space you get, or the 120GB iPod classic for $249 are for those looking to get more out of their MP3 player. Students on a budget could pick up an iPod nano for $149 to $199 or an iPod shuffle starting at $49.
"I see the new iPhones and iPod Touches as more than just a cell phone or iPod; they're mobile computing platforms," said Kyle Bradbury, a senior in Radio, Television and Film.
Apple recently released the 3G iPhone, said to be twice the speed of the original iPhone according to Apple, and some students were quick to upgrade, while some hope to get their first iPhone this holiday season. The iPhone costs between $199 and $299.
"I absolutely love the features of the iPhone," said Courtney Price, a NT senior majoring in Radio, Television and Film. "I have an iPod already, so putting that together with my cell phone sounds great."
This holiday season has already seen plenty for gamers to add to their Christmas list. Fans of Rock Band and Guitar Hero can indulge in the newest additions, Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. The Rock Band 2 bundle is currently available for $189.99 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and will be released for the Wii on Dec. 30. The Guitar Hero World Tour bundle is also currently available for $189.99 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii.
For those who prefer a bit more action and violence, Gears of War 2 was recently released on the Xbox 360 for $59.99.
"I am looking forward to getting back in the world of Gears of War, it is definitely on my Christmas list," said Jon Llanes, a senior majoring in Radio, Television and Film.
