Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, two people were shot at a hip-hop show after-party at Andy’s Bar as a fight between individuals escalated.

Denton resident Christopher Thomas, 29, and his girlfriend were at the show when the violence began.

“I noticed a fight break out [and] the shot got fired,” Thomas said. “I grabbed my girlfriend and ran out of the venue. As we ran down the street, I turned around to see what was going on [as] three or four more shots were fired, and people kept pouring out of the venue.”

Andy’s was the location of an after-party following a hip-hop concert called LittBash at the North Texas Fairgrounds on Saturday night.

Before the fight and gun violence, Thomas said he and his girlfriend noticed multiple men outside the venue. Thomas said the group seemed to have previous contempt for an individual inside.

“While my girlfriend and I were outside, we overheard a group of guys discussing an issue they had with another guy,” Thomas said. “They were going on, expressing their angst about an individual they didn’t like.”

Thomas said the men eventually “came rushing inside and ended up near the bathroom” before the violence escalated.

It was later confirmed during the investigation that the feud began before the suspects entered the bar.

Denton police spokesman Bryan Cose said an officer responded to the incident after receiving a report of the gunshots.

“[The officer] stopped a car with four individuals,” Cose said. “Two had sustained gunshot wounds.”

The two individuals with injuries were taken to a Denton hospital. Cose said the two individuals who had not sustained injuries were arrested when the officer found guns and narcotics in the vehicle. The two were bailed out on Monday according to jail records.

One of the victims has been released and another remains in the hospital for treatment. Neither have been arrested, though they could still face charges of either deadly conduct or aggravated assault, depending on the results of the investigation, the Record-Chronicle reported.
