Brief: cross country men win C-USA title, women place third

The Mean Green cross country men won the Conference USA title at the C-USA Championships in Denton on Saturday.

This is the first conference title for the team since 1994. The men finished third in the same tournament last season.

Junior Troy Taylor led the men with a third place finish, while senior Alejandra Valencia followed in ninth place. It was Taylor’s third top-three finish of the season.

The Mean Green women finished in third place, which is where they finished last year as well. Senior Charlotte Wilson finished in fourth place for the women to help them get another top three finish.

Next up, the Mean Green will run in the NCAA South Regional Central Regional Championship on Nov. 14.
