The Mean Green football team announced this morning that it has hired Chris Cosh as its new defensive coordinator.
Cosh spent last season as the defensive coordinator at the University of Buffalo. Throughout his career, Cosh has worked with a number of reputable coaches. From 2009 to 2011, Cosh was the defensive coordinator at Kansas State University under head coach Bill Snyder. From 1999 to 2002 Cosh was the linebackers coach at the University of South Carolina under the now retired Lou Holtz, and was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2003. Cosh was also the defensive coordinator at Michigan State University in 1998 under then head coach Nick Saban.
Cosh comes to North Texas after the retirement of John Skladany, who had been with the Mean Green since 2012 and had worked with head coach Dan McCarney in years prior.
Last season, the Mean Green defense ranked sixth in Conference USA in rushing defense, fourth in passing defense, sixth in interceptions, fourth in sacks and last in red zone defense.
