Brief: Freshman of the Year transferring

Freshman guard Loryn Goodwin and sophomore forward Braylah Blakely have left the Mean Green women’s basketball program, head coach Mike Petersen confirmed yesterday.
Goodwin was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and broke several UNT records last season, including the most three-pointers made in a season. Blakely was a bench player who averaged 15 minutes a game.
There was no press release, and Petersen declined to comment on the situation. Goodwin and Blakely did not respond when contacted.
Goodwin said on Twitter yesterday evening, “Sometimes you have to jump out on a limb to test your faith. Besides, change turns into opportunity.”
Goodwin averaged 13 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, including her career-high 28 points and a game-winning three in a win over the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Feb. 14. Blakely averaged 3.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, scoring a career-high 16 against Texas State University on Nov. 12.
The women’s basketball team also loses one senior next season – forward Sara Stanley.
