Brief: men’s basketball drops fourth straight game

The Mean Green men’s basketball team extended its losing streak to four games with a 71-61 home loss to the University of Texas – San Antonio on Sunday.
North Texas (6-8, 0-2) shot lights out on the offensive end in the first half. The Mean Green shot 56 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes and held a 32-29 lead at halftime.
But, the Mean Green’s hot shooting dipped in the second half as it shot 37 percent from the field and 11.1 percent from the three-point line, which helped UTSA close the game out.
Senior guard Jordan Williams led the team in scoring with 17 points to go along with six rebounds. Junior forward Muhammed Ahmed had all 14 of his points in the second half to help keep North Texas in the game, and also had four blocks.
The Mean Green will look to snap its losing streak on Saturday when it plays Rice University on the road at 2 p.m.
