Brief: men’s basketball falls to SFA

The Mean Green men’s basketball team lost to Stephen F. Austin State University 59-48 Sunday afternoon on the road. It was the team’s third straight loss.
North Texas (4-3) was down 26-20 at halftime, but were not able to climb over the hump in the second half. The team was able to cut the SFA (6-3) lead to as little as three points, but the Mean Green were never able to take a lead.
The Mean Green were down 50-44 with 5:05 left to play, but SFA outscored the Mean Green 9-4 in the final five minutes to secure the win.
Senior guard Jordan Williams led the team with 15 points and five rebounds. Freshman forward Jeremy Combs chipped in seven points and 11 rebounds, while junior guard Maurice Aniefiok added nine points.
Next up, the Mean Green will return home to play Langston University on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
