Brief: men’s basketball losing skid hits two games

The Mean Green men’s basketball team lost on the road to Texas Tech University 60-45 Monday night in its final nonconference game of the season.
Despite shooting 32.1 percent in the first half, the Mean Green (6-6) only trailed the Red Raiders (10-3) 26-22 at halftime. However, the Red Raiders went on to shoot 21 free throws in the second half and made 16 of those to down the Mean Green. North Texas only had 16 free throw attempts for the entire game. The team also shot 34.6 percent for the game and just 11.1 from three-point range.
Senior guard Jordan Williams had 20 points, but no other Mean Green player had more than five points for the game.
The Mean Green will begin Conference USA play at home on Jan. 2 against the University of Texas – El Paso. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
