UNT preseason All-American and sophomore forward Tony Mitchell will make announcement regarding his future with the team at a press conference on Wednesday.

At the press conference, hosted by the UNT Athletics Department, Mitchell will announce if he will stay a member of the Mean Green or if he will forgo his remaining two years of eligibility to enter the NBA draft.

Following Monday night’s press conference announcement, multiple news outlets – including The Dallas Morning News, CBS Sports and NBC Sports – reported that Mitchell plans to announce his intentions of entering the draft, though no formal announcement will be made until Wednesday.

Last April, the former Sun Belt Conference freshman of the year announced that he would remain with the Mean Green for his sophomore season, despite being projected to be selected as a mid-to-late first round draft pick.

Last season, Mitchell averaged 14.7 points per game, notched 70 blocks and grabbed 238 rebounds, while he averaged 13 points per game, made 87 blocks and snagged 273 rebounds this season.

Many draft experts feel that he has hurt his draft stock after this season, but he is still projected to be selected late in the first round if he enters

The press conference will take place in the Apogee Stadium Mercer Press Lounge at 5 p.m.
