The Mean Green volleyball team was swept this weekend in its final road games of the year against Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University, with the Conference USA tournament starting Thursday.
UNT had come into the weekend winning its last four games.

Hoping to win for a chance at a first-round bye in the C-USA tournament, the Mean Green (16-14, 8-6) lost in five sets to FAU (19-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17, 11-15) on Friday, who also needed a win desperately to have a chance at playing in the conference tournament.
Sophomore outside hitter Carnae Dillard led the team with 26 kills and 14 digs for the match. Senior outside hitter Courtney Windham added 11 kills and sophomore outside hitter Analisse Shannon put up an additional 7 kills.
Florida International
The Mean Green seemed to lose all its momentum and was swept by FIU (12-16, 6-8) on Sunday (23-25, 20-25, 22-25).
With the loss, the Mean Green drops into a three-way tie with Marshall University and Middle Tennessee State University. Marshall wins the tie-breaker, so the Mean Green will be the fifth seed in the conference tournament and do not receive the first round bye.
The first round of the tournament starts on Thursday in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
