Brief: women’s basketball loses 20th game of season

The Mean Green Women’s basketball team lost on the road 85-59 to the University of Middle Tennessee State on Saturday.
North Texas (3-20, 2-11) struggled from the outset against MTSU, who jumped to 48-24 lead at halftime.
The Mean Green were only outscored 37-35 in the second half, but the first half deficit was just too big for the team to overcome.
North Texas shot 68.8 percent from the free throw line, a far cry from their nine percent performance on Thursday night against the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Despite this improvement, the Mean Green allowed the MTSU to shoot 50 percent from the field.
Sophomore forward Acheil Tac put up 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss, while sophomore guard Terra Ellison added 13 points. Leading scorer and senior forward Briesha Wynn missed her third straight game for North Texas with an ankle injury, according to Mean Green sports.
The Mean Green will get four days of rest before playing host to Florida Atlantic University on Thursday at the Super Pit. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
