The Mean Green women’s basketball team lost an early 11:30 a.m. game to Northern Colorado University 53-48 Monday at the Super Pit.
North Texas trailed 19-17 after the first half after both team’s offenses struggled to get much going . The Mean Green shot the ball 25.9 percent from the field, but Northern Colorado was even worse at 23.8 percent from the field in the first half.
The Mean Green offense improved in the second half, as the team shot 41.4 percent from the field and was in a close game until the end, but couldn’t come up with the win. The team also struggled from the free throw line through out the game, making eight of its 23 attempts. This comes after the Mean Green shot below 50 percent from the free throw line in its first game of the season as well.
Sophomore forward Eboniey Jeter led the team with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while senior forward Briesha Wynn added 13 points.
The team will be looking for its first win of the season when it takes on the University of Massachusetts at home Friday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
