Brief: women’s basketball loses to UTSA on the road

The Mean Green women’s basketball team lost a 53-45 game to the University of Texas – San Antonio on the road Saturday. It is the team’s sixth straight loss.
North Texas (1-12, 0-2) trailed the Roadrunners 28-20 at halftime, and shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the first half. The team held UTSA to 37 percent shooting in the first half, but the Roadrunners shot 44.4 percent on three pointers to help them build a halftime lead.
UTSA’s three point percentage decreased in the second half, but its overall field goal percentage increased to 44.4 percent, which helped down the Mean Green. Like the first half, the Mean Green struggled from the field in the second half as it shot 34.6 percent from the field.
Senior forward Briesha Wynn had 13 points, but no other Mean Green player scored in double figures.
Next up, the Mean Green will look to get its first home win of the season when Rice University comes to the Super Pit on Saturday at 4 p.m.
