C-USA, Athlon recognize Mean Green for impressive weekend
For the first time in North Texas volleyball history, the Mean Green were awarded three weekly conference honors for their play during the past week. It was a stretch that included two four-set wins over the University of Texas at El Paso and Florida Atlantic University.
Senior middle blocker Amanda Chamberlain was awarded Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 37 kills while posting a .444 average attack percentage and 10 block assists.
Junior setter Karley York was awarded Setter of the Week for her 109 assists and 13 digs in the two matches.
Freshman outside hitter Barbara Teakell won Freshman of the Week after recording her first 20-kill match against FAU and putting up 14 kills against UTEP, while also averaging a .393 attack percentage.
The team as a whole is now 19-2 and 6-1 in conference play. The 6-1 record is their best conference start since 2002, and the honors are starting to pile up.
Fine, Harrell recognized by C-USA
Sophomore quarterback Mason Fine led the Mean Green to victory with his tough effort late against the University of Texas at San Antonio Saturday night at Apogee Stadium.

Fine finished with 354 yards on 20-of-34 passing and had three touchdowns in the air as well as one on the ground. One of Fine’s three passing touchdowns came with 10 seconds left as he found junior Rico Bussey Jr. who found the end zone and effectively stole the win from UTSA.
Fine is now averaging 299 yards per game while completing nearly 62 percent of his passes.
Additionally, offensive coordinator Graham Harrell was awarded FBS Offensive Coordinator of the Week by AthlonSports.com. The North Texas offense averaging just over 37 points per game this season.

The Mean Green are now 4-2 (3-0 C-USA) as they travel to FAU this weekend.
