UNT ‘s campus is under construction due to building renovations and additions, widening of bridges and the installment of new facilities. All the ongoing construction projects for the next month, according to the Construction Obstruction Report, are listed below.

I-35 Expansion

Interstate Highway 35E and the frontal roads along its side will be closed until late December 2018. The realignment of the frontage roads and the interstate are currently under construction due to the widening of the North Texas Boulevard overpass.

Track and Field Complex

South of the Waranch Tennis Complex, located on 1499 S. Bonnie Brae St., will be obstructed. The sidewalks will be blocked to pedestrian traffic due to the building of the new track and field complex. The construction start date was Oct. 1, 2017 and is scheduled to finish on Sept. 30, 2018.

Coliseum

The east and west sides of the Coliseum are closed due to project construction. These sides have been under construction since late July because of the renovation and addition of ticket booths, office space and restroom areas to the Coliseum. The project is scheduled to be completed on April 28, 2018.

CVAD

Parking lot 50 and the sidewalks along the east side of the College of Visual Art and Design Building, located on 1201 W. Mulberry St., will be closed and under construction. The new CVAD building is being built in this area and is scheduled to be complete Oct. 29, 2018. This project consists of a new academic building for the art department.

The sidewalks along the west side of the art building will be closed due to infrastructure improvements for the new CVAD building. The CVAD’s “chill water addition,” a mechanism used to help cool the building, will be completed by Jan. 29, 2018, seven months before the new building is set to be finished.

Residence Halls

Res Hall and Welcome Center

A new welcome center and residence hall, Res Hall, are being built southeast of Kerr Hall block, located on 1413 W Maple St. Parking lot 1 and the grounds east of Kerr Hall will be blocked because of these construction projects, until their scheduled completion on Feb. 26, 2018.

Legends Hall

Pedestrian and vehicle traffic near Legends hall, located on 221 N Texas Blvd., will be impacted by construction. Legends Hall is undergoing storm drain rerouting and will be back to normal after the project is finished by Oct. 30, 2017.

Curry Hall

The south drive of the Auditorium-English Building, located on 1105 W Mulberry St., will be obstructed until Jan. 2, 2018 because of the space being used as a contractor staging area.

Bruce Courtyards

The east courtyards between Bruce Hall’s wings, located on 1624 Chestnut St., are being renovated. The sidewalks along the building will be blocked. This five-month project is scheduled for completion on Oct. 30, 2017.

Hickory Street

Various streets and sidewalks between Hickory, Bonnie Brae and Carroll streets will be closed due to infrastructure improvements and road reconstruction in the area. The Hickory Street Capital Improvement is said to be complete by Jan. 30, 2018.
