Art Six Coffee Shop at 424 Bryan St. closed last month. UNT alum Michael White said that he purchased the building last month from the owners and that the location will turn into a new coffee shop called Two B’s and a V Coffee House and Comfort Zone, which opens on Monday.

“It stands for brewed coffee, beer and vino,” White said. “At the moment we’re going to just offer coffee, smoothies and a traditional coffee house menu with some food.”

He said that as soon as he gets an alcohol license the shop will start selling beer and wine.

White said that the owners of Art Six sold the business to pursue careers as artists.

Chris Peterson, a barista at Big Mike’s coffee shop, said he knew some of the owners of Art Six from when it initially opened seven years ago.

“I was happy for them but it was weirdly inconsistent,” Peterson said. “It was always strange figuring out what time they were open and what time they closed.”

Peterson said it is sad to see one of Denton’s many coffee shops go, but said that, regardless, Denton’s coffee community will thrive.

“We’re that kind of town,” Peterson said. “We can sort of keep up with eight or nine coffee shops at a time.”

Psychology senior Ariana Loss-Cutler said that she is sad to see Art Six go. She said she frequents Big Mike’s coffee shop because it is open 24-hours and is closer to campus.

“I by far liked Art Six more,” Loss-Cutler said. “I loved the people who ran it. I loved the environment.”

Loss-Cutler loves Art Six so much that she got married there.

“I didn’t do a lot of planning and I liked the idea of getting married in a coffee shop,” she said. “Art Six was basically just very Denton. We met in Denton and it kind of epitomized that for me.’’
