College of Music cancels rehearsals, recitals and all concerts due to coronavirus concerns
The College of Music announced concerts are cancelled for the rest of the semester and classes are moving online through the summer of 2020 amid concerns about COVID-19, according to the College of Music website. Additionally, the Music Practice Building, Music Annex, Murchison Performing Arts Center, Bain Hall and Chilton Hall will be closed, starting on March 24.
The College of Music also cancelled all rehearsals after moving classes online starting Monday, March 23.
“All chamber music, ensembles, and laboratories have met the requisite contact-time,” its website said. “They are concluded for the Spring, 2020 semester.”
The College of Music continued degree recitals as of March 16 but cancelled recitals for the remainder of the semester as of the week of March 23 and will conduct them via Zoom. Advising will also be done via Zoom. Juries, rehearsals, applied lessons and piano labs will no longer be held in person. Juries and applied lessons will be held online will be online however piano classes are cancelled.
