Students can acquire tickets starting today for former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s lecture appearance at UNT on April 16.

Tickets are available and free for students at noon, but do not open to the general public until Saturday at midnight. Stadium seats are $30 and floor seats $50, with a $5 discount for faculty and staff. The first 300 students who get their tickets will also be eligible for floor seating in the Super Pit.

The former Secretary of State is appearing as a part of the UNT’s Distinguished Lecture Series. Her topic is not set yet.

“It’s really up to her about what she expects to speak about, but most likely it will be about foreign affairs and policy,” Student Government Association President Rudy Reynoso said.

Rice has been contacted in past years but UNT was never able to book the engagement.

“Every year we hold surveys to see what speakers students would be interested to see come speak,” Reynoso said. “For the past four years, she’s consistently been one of the top three speakers students have requested.”

Previous guest lectures have included Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage from the TV show “Mythbusters,” musician John Legend, former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and former President George Bush.

Rice will speak at the UNT Coliseum at 8 p.m. on April 16.
