Police car window shot out as cops investigate other shot-out windows
A Denton Police cruiser’s back window was shot out after police responded to a call that four vehicles on the Texas Woman’s University campus were found with their windows also shot Wednesday morning.
TWU police notified Denton police at around 4:50 a.m.,requested their assistance. While attempting to locate a suspect, an officer was patrolling on Locust Street, near Oakland Street, when four or five shots were fired at the back window of the officer’s car. The officer said she sustained no injuries.
The officer, with the help of others in the area, searched for a suspect but was unable to locate anyone.
The investigation is still ongoing, but authorities are confident that a pellet gun was used. The damage to the patrol car is estimated at $500, according to the police.
On Tuesday morning officers responded to a report of vandalism to a vehicle on the 900 block of Panhandle Street. On arrival, police found 18 vehicles with broken windows. A pellet gun caused the damages, police said.
At this time police are still investigating the incidences to determine if they are related. No suspects have been arrested at this time.
