DIY: Decorative wall art
Marlene Gonzalez / Senior Staff Writer
Decorating an apartment can be difficult and expensive, but brightening up the walls doesn’t have to be. Before throwing away another toilet or paper towel roll, consider saving it and a couple more to create fun and vibrant wall art.
With a few snippets here and there, glides of glue and a touch of spray paint, visitors will be asking where you bought your artisan-like craft.
For less than $5 you can create decorative wall art you’ll be proud of showing off.
Materials:
Toilet paper rolls
Glue
Scissors
Spray paint
Bobby pins
Instructions:
Flatten out your toilet paper roll.
Cut the toilet paper roll crossways. Each roll makes about 6 petal-shaped figures.
Glue the edges of the petals together. Depending on what kind of design and pattern you want, you can glue different parts of the petals together.
Use bobby pins to hold the petals together. This helps the glue dry faster and holds the pieces in place.
Use five petals to create a flower shape.
After the pieces are dry and you have the pattern you desire, spray paint the finished product.
Use a thumbtack or nail to hang your new decorative wall art.
