Whether they’re stylish or tacky, sweaters are in season. Instead of spending gobs of cash on a brand new one, transform a sweater in the closet or a cheap one from Goodwill using ribbon, needle and thread.

Materials
Plain sweater
A 2-3 foot ribbon (The store ReUse has ribbons and fabric, as do thrift stores and Family Dollar).
Needle
Thread

Instructions
In the middle of the sweater, cut a vertical line where the ribbon bow will go
Fold the ribbon in half and, using a safety pin, pin the center of the fold in the middle of the sweater.
Pull the left side of the ribbon over and pull the right side underneath, to crisscross.
Then start pinning down the ribbon into a bow
Use the needle and thread to sew the bow into the sweater. Start with the center first so the bow won’t unravel.
After the center is secured, then start sewing all around the both edges of the ribbon.

The amount for all tools should be less than $10.
Sweater: Free or about $4 at Goodwill
Ribbon: $1
Pins: $1 t
Thread and needle: $1-2
