The Square has numerous food offerings, from square donuts to pizza to sandwiches, to appease the growling of Dentonite stomachs. Weinberger’s Deli just off the Square is one of these delicious eateries in the area, serving up scrumptious deli-style sandwiches with an overwhelming number of selections including pastrami, turkey, corned beef and more.

All the sandwiches are under $9 and most come with a side of chips.

Sitting at 311 East Hickory St., this creative shop is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted with a theme of red and yellow. The atmosphere also includes TVs on opposite sides of the restaurant, usually with sports programs.

The styles of sandwiches offered are deli style, Reubens, Cubans and subs/dagwoods—each with an interesting name attempting to explain the meal such as “Madison Square Garden,” a roast beef sandwich with fresh tomatoes and red onions.

Each selection does contain a good amount of vegetables ranging from the typical lettuce and tomatoes to more intriguing bell peppers and avocados. With a myriad of tasty plants available, any sandwich meat can be complimented exactly how the customer chooses.

For guests not interested in a meaty sandwich, the deli also offers up gyros for $6.99, with a choice of lamb or beef combined with onions, tomato and Tzatziki sauce in pita bread.

Sausages are also available, with options including all beef hot dogs, grilled brats or a “sweet Italian sausage.” All sausages are under $7.

Side items other than chips include soup or chili for $3.99 a bowl, and potato salad, German potato salad, coleslaw, Italian pasta salad, macaroni salad and olive salad for $1.75 each.

With the atmosphere stirring up laughs and the sandwiches causing smiles, Weinberger’s Deli is a must visit for UNT students because it has something for everyone.
