The end of the semester is getting closer, and for some, it is (finally) graduation time. Many students take out college loans and use financial aid throughout their time at university, and before they know it, it will be time to pay them off.

With the help of private and federal loans, FAFSA and other financial aid websites like Sallie Mae, students find themselves drowning in debt for what might seem like the rest of their lives.

At the Student Money Management Center, students can schedule appointments with a money coach for free for guidance and personalized help toward paying off loans. Located at Chestnut Hall 313, the center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students can walk in for assistance regarding loans and how to pay for college.

Wells Fargo employee Jason Vasquez said the income from the graduates occupation plays a large part in loan repayment. Graduates who earn a high income after they graduate from college often repay their student loans sooner.

“Student loan terms vary between federal and private student loans,” Vasquez said. “When you factor in the varying loan amounts taken by each student, it adds another part to the equation of paying back student loans.”

The U.S. Department of Education represents about 92 percent of all student loans and offers advice on how to pay them back on its website.

Wells Fargo has information regarding private loans, including loans terms and interest rates on variable and fixed interest private student loans on its website.
