This past weekend, “Noah” and “God’s Not Dead” were among the top grossing movies at the American Box Office. After the success of these faith-driven films, Sony Pictures is next in line with their adaptation of “Heaven is For Real.”

Based on Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent’s 2010 bestseller of the same name, the film centers on the true story of the four-year-old son (Connor Corum) of a small town Nebraska pastor (Greg Kinnear) who during an emergency operation slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives the surgery, but returns with a story that inexplicable. While the family is reluctant to believe at first, soon the evidence is apparent.

“Heaven is For Real” may be one of those films that cause the skeptic inside you to turn away initially, but one would suggest fighting the temptation and take on this spiritual journey. It’s a moving and well-acted feature that causes audiences to ask their own questions about the afterlife.

The North Texas Daily recently had the opportunity to sit down with the film’s director and co-writer, Randall Wallace (“Braveheart”), and stars Kinnear (“Little Miss Sunshine”) and Margo Martindale (“August: Osage County”) at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel before the Dallas International Film Festival premiere. We discussed how the affected them spiritually, second chances and UNT alumnus Thomas Haden Church, who also stars in the film.

“Heaven is For Real” opens in theaters everywhere on Wednesday.
