A man brandishing a knife was shot and killed by a Denton police officer Monday afternoon at the 200 block of Spencer Street, officials said.
No other injuries were reported. The Texas Rangers will be investigating the incident.
A male suspect approached a police car at 3:15 p.m. and began yelling at two officers who were working on a crash report, according to a press release from the Denton Police Department. When the officers checked on the man, he took out a knife and started taunting them, the release stated.
After an officer told the man to stop, he disappeared into a wooded area. The release said the man appeared again, acting aggressively toward the officers.
One of the officers then used a taser on the man, according to the release.
The man fell to the ground before standing again and continued to threaten the officers with a knife. The release said when the man began advancing toward the officers, one officer shot him with a sidearm.
Officers called emergency medical services. The man died at the scene, according to the release.
Face it. This is my world. As the student body increases you are inappropriately focused. You refer to the CARE team. Guess what? It fails.
Since the cure is marijuana, you need to provide that. People get high, fail to act, and everyone is safer!
