Mansfield Independent School District is now the latest school to become part of UNT’s Eagle Advantage, a tuition program meant to encourage high-achieving high school juniors to commit to UNT for their college career.

Mansfield is now the fifth school district to join the program. Denton, Aubrey, Arlington and Gainesville ISDs have already joined Eagle Advantage. Mansfield is located south of Arlington.

A news release from UNT said juniors at Mansfield in the top 20 percent of their class will automatically be accepted into UNT. Students must still submit ACT and SAT scores and satisfy Texas Success Initiatives requirements.

This year, seniors in the top 20 percent of their class will be accepted as well, but after Fall 2015, only juniors may participate. Participating schools each receive $1,000 to give to one junior in the Eagle Advantage program.

The program is part of the university’s marketing efforts aimed at Dallas-Fort Worth students. Billboards and other advertisements market UNT as “First in degree choices” in North Texas.
