UNT took complete control of the game early on, outshooting FIU 13-2. Senior forward Lynda Hercules scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute. Soon after, senior defender Kelsey Hodges scored on a penalty kick in the 36th minute to give the Mean Green a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

It was a rematch of last year’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament finals, which had the Mean Green winning 1-0.
The Mean Green will be back in action Friday at 7 p.m. when the team will play the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. UNT beat Charlotte 3-0 at home on Oct. 13.
