With the 3-1 victory against Texas State University on Sunday morning at Lovelace Stadium, the Mean Green softball team extended its winning streak to 11 games and is still undefeated in its ten home games.
UNT (11-5) put the first points on the scoreboard when sophomore second baseman Karly Williams blasted a two-run homer over the left field wall in the bottom of the second inning. Senior outfielder Jackie Miller had a hit in the fourth inning that brought in sophomore utility player Taylor Schoblocher for the third run.
Senior pitcher Ashley Kirk recorded her seventh win of the season in a complete game. She only gave up four hits and registered nine strikeouts.
Next up, the team will host its third straight home tournament, the Best Western/Barnyard Classic, starting at 2:30 p.m. March 1 at Lovelace Stadium against Wichita State University.
