Student Government Association presidential and vice presidential candidates running in this year’s election will meet with the public for the first time Wednesday at a town hall meeting in the University Union.

The informal meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the SGA Senate chamber, Union room 322. It will feature a Q&A for the presidential candidates and their running mates. Three SGA members and two outsiders started campaigning for president Monday, kicking off the election period.

The current SGA president, Adam Alattry, compared the gathering to a caucus, where there are no microphones and the conversations are not moderated.

Political science junior Grant Hale is a presidential candidate with integrative studies sophomore and College of Business senator Barrett Cole as his running mate.

The other SGA executive running for president is broadcast journalism junior Mikayla Barnes. She is the SGA director of outreach and chose speech language pathology junior Tola Adeniji as her running mate.

SGA College of Arts and Sciences senator Sam DeLeon is running for president. The integrative studies junior is running alongside biology sophomore Owen Saenz.

The two dark horses for president are marketing junior Alessandra De La Rosa and political science junior John Andrews.

Spanish and pre-business junior Cristal Benitez-Lopez teamed up with De La Rosa, both members of the League of United Latin American Citizens. Advertising junior and vice president of Delta Sigma Phi Jadon Sennet is with Andrews. Andrews is the vice president of finance for the InterFraternity Council and was the president of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity last year.
