The Mean Green (1-0) dominated from the outset and never trailed, unleashing a relentless offensive attack that produced the most points at home since 1999.

North Texas opened the game on a 15-2 run capped off with an emphatic and one alley-oop by sophomore forward Jeremy Combs. He finished the night with 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting, recording his fourth career double-double.

The offense found its rhythm early, jumping on Jarvis Christian (0-1) to the tune of a 29-7 lead midway through the first half. The deluge of points continued as the Mean Green drained seven three pointers in the first half and nine for the game, ending the night shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Six North Texas players finished in double figures with four reaching the mark before halftime. Jarvis Christian, on the other hand, was held to 34.4 percent shooting in the first half and entered the locker room trailing 56-32.

The Bulldogs did not fare much better in the second half, as the Mean Green extended its lead to as much as 31 points with 12:05 remaining in the second half. Head coach Tony Benford’s squad out-rebounded Jarvis Christian 63-44, resulting in a 17 to 6 advantage in second chance points.

Next Up: North Texas hosts Texas College on Monday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
