The Mean Green basketball team lost its second straight game, falling to the Oklahoma State University Cowboys 87-62 on the road Wednesday night.

The Mean Green (4-3) got off to a fast start against the undefeated Cowboys and lead 25-22 with eight minutes remaining in the first half.

From there, the Mean Green could not keep up with the sharpshooting Cowboys, as the team allowed OSU to get out to a 42-30 halftime lead.

The Mean Green has failed to win a game away from the Super Pit this season and was trying to pull an upset over a Big 12 opponent. After changing the back court up last game due to injuries, head coach Tony Benford’s lineup seemed to be working in the Mean Greens favor for the first part of the game.

However senior starting guard T.J. Taylor was injured early in the second half. The senior landed awkwardly following a shot, suffering an apparent right leg injury, and did not return for the Mean Green.

An already injury plagued Mean Green could not recover and were outscored in the second half, 45-31.

Freshman forward Jeremy Combs led the Mean Green with 15 points. However the front court was dominated by the Cowboys, as it was outrebounded 45- 23.

Despite shooting only 38% from the field, the Mean Green shot 43.8% from beyond the three point line. The game was lost due in part to the hot three point shooting from OSU, who finished at 70.6%, hitting 12 of its 17 three pointers.

The Mean Green will have some time off until it faces Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches on Dec. 14.
