UNT’s College of Music will host the United States Navy Concert Band from Washington, D.C.  Feb. 17 at the Murchison Performing Arts Center. Denton is one of four Texas stops on the wind ensemble’s annual music tour, which also takes them to Tennessee, Virginia, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi this year.

The band’s sold-out performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will include special guest Charles Vernon, bass trombonist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Vernon and the band will premiere a new concerto for Bass Trombone.

Though the performance is free and open to the public, a ticket is mandatory to enter the venue. All 1300 printed tickets were claimed within 4 days.

The College of Music will have a standby line for those without tickets. Patrons in this line will be seated in any unclaimed seats 15 minutes before the concert begins on a first come, first served basis.

A live simulcast web-stream of the concert will also be available via log-in on the College of Music website (http://recording.music.unt.edu/live).
