After two resignations, Tom McCoy will take over as UNT’s acting Vice President for Research and Economic Development per the request of president Neal Smatresk.

Vice President of Finance and Administration Andrew Harris and Senior Associate Vice President for Finance Jean Bush both submitted their resignations in the past week due to personal reasons, leaving a “significant gap” in UNT’s leadership, Smatresk said in a press release.

“Rest assured that my immediate top priorities are to search for and identify new leadership for the division and to develop a deeper understanding of UNT’s institutional budgets and our challenges, so that we can proceed uninterrupted with planning for our next academic year,” he said.

McCoy joined UNT last summer after 15 years at Montana State University, where he served as the vice president for research, creativity and technology. He helped MSU generate $112 million in research funding in his time at the university.
